For the successful Treatment of Acupuncture & Herbology

Introduction of Oriental Medicine

It has been selected by the world health organization for health care needs of the 21 st Century because oriental medicine has been practiced for over 2000 years. The treatments of oriental medicine traditionally include acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbals medicine. The science of oriental medicine would be inductive method while the western medicine is directed to a deductive method. Again, the science Oriental Medicine would be macro while the Western Medicine would be micro. Also, the science of acupuncture and moxibustion is an important component of traditional ancient medicine employed in the prevention and treatment of disease based on the balance of Yin-Yang (see the below definition.) which would be a guide to clinical diagnosis. In a sense, it would be expected that a combined treatment between oriental and western medicine would be synergetic effects.

What is acupuncture?

The question is ¡°What is acupuncture?¡± Why and how it functions, when an acupuncture needle is inserted into the cutaneous skin of ill human beings. Even if a set of efforts to prove scientifically the effect of acupuncture which obviously relives pain or illness has been pursued by many of nations throughout the world, the mechanism of acupuncture has not been well explained in terms of modern medical science. Nonethelss its study has been activated in terms of alternative medicine. One must essentially understand the peripheral pain mechanism in order to cope with these challenges. Thus, acupuncture which would be related to the cerebral cortex in understanding the above mentioned process would give us another important challenge.

In recent, there have been attempts to analyze the acupuncture mechanism in terms of medical science. A continuing series of attempts are considered in the category of the autonomic nerve system as particular stimulation with ¡°conscious sense.¡± And it would be a tendency that the acupuncture mechanism with the theory and concept of chemical substances and endorphin, morphine-like substances has been explained in the light of western medicine.

As we know, the somatic nerve system such as movement, sensation, consciousness and thought are directly related with peripheral pain and the afferent tract of the cerebral cortex. It has been developed that the theory of acupuncture mechanism and its anesthesia with mechanophysics indicating to neuro-physiology such as the somatic and autonomic nerve system. In short, it is noticeable that acupuncture would provide a treatment which can positively disconnect a pain cycle of human body without side effects.
